Rabbi Sarah Bassin serves as the associate rabbi at Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills, overseeing the congregation’s work with young professionals and social justice.  Through her justice work, Temple Emanuel has become a leading congregation in educating and responding to the California drought. Prior to joining Temple Emanuel, Rabbi Bassin served as Executive Director of LA–based NewGround: A Muslim-Jewish Partnership for Change. Under her leadership, NewGround was named to the Slingshot Guide‘s list of the 50 Most Innovative and Inspiring Organizations in the Jewish Community.

The online magazine Splashlife selected Rabbi Bassin as one of 30 people under the age of 30 to watch in civic leadership.  She has served as mentorship program coordinator for the School of Jewish Nonprofit Management at HUC, as a Teaching Assistant in Jewish History at USC, as a Rabbinic Intern with the Board of Rabbis of Southern California, and as Hospital Chaplain at UCLA's Santa Monica Health Center.
