The Goal of the Catholic-Jewish Women’s Conference is to promote understanding and good fellowship in the Greater Los Angeles area between women of these two vital religious traditions. The organization is open to all Catholic and Jewish women. Others interested in Interfaith Dialogue are also invited to attend.

History

In 1977, as a result of Nostra Aetate, the 1965 declaration of Vatican II repudiating anti-Semitism,  a group of Catholic religious sisters suggested a dialogue exchange between Jewish and Catholic women. With the help and support of Rabbi Alfred Wolf, of blessed memory, and Msgr. Royale Vadakin, the first Catholic-Jewish Women’s Conference was planned. Since then, the conference has been held annually.

Conference

Usually held each year on Veteran’s Day (November 11), the Annual Conference features distinguished speakers from each faith to address a topic of mutual interest, followed by a question and answer session. Conference attendees spend the afternoon in small group dialogue discussions on the same topic.
